MS Cougar Hoopsters Stay Busy
The Piedmont Academy Middle School basketball teams have stayed busy in the past week with several contests.
On January 14, Piedmont hosted Macon Area with the Middle School Lady Cougars falling in a close 17-12 contest while the boys dropped a 40-15 game.
For the Lady Cougars, Lucy Tuggle was the team’s leading scorer with five points while Madison McCart scored four and O’Neil Sealy finished with three.
The game was close throughout with Piedmont trailing by three points going into the fourth quarter.
For the Piedmont boys, Owen Brady finished with a team-high eight points, including two baskets from 3-point range. Sam Wright added three points while J.T. Webb and Tate Marks both scored two.
Last Friday, Piedmont hosted Lake Oconee in a pair of games. The Lady Cougars fell 21-9 as McCart, Jordan Camp and Madison Sanders all scored two points. Tuggle and Sealy both converted a free throw.
The Middle School boys fell 48-10 as Marks was the leading scorer with three points followed by Dylan Coe and Sam Wright with two each. Browning Benton, Caleb Coffey and Talon Anglin all scored one.
Piedmont remained at home Saturday against Briarwood. The Lady Cougars dropped a 12-11 game to the Lady Buccaneers in a game which saw Piedmont lead by three points at halftime. McCart scored a game-high six points while Sealy added four points. Rylee Owens added a free throw.
Piedmont’s boys fell to Briarwood 45-16 as Benton and Brady both scored five points. Both players scored one 3-pointer. Anglin and Coe both added three points.
Despite Monday’s holiday, the Middle School basketball teams traveled to Macon Area. The Lady Cougars were led by six points from Sealy and four points by McCart in a close 21-16 loss. Camp, Alexis Dodson and Madison Sanders all scored two points.
The Middle School boys fell 51-20 to Macon Area with Marks leading the way with eight points followed by Coe with five. Benton and Wright both finished with three points while Brady added a free throw.
Piedmont’s Middle School basketball teams were scheduled to travel to Brentwood Wednesday and will be on the road Friday against Briarwood beginning at 1 p.m.
