Burglaries Are Investigated
The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) reported responding to a call from a resident on Lakeshore Drive in Alcovy Shores on January 16, in which the victim reported that an amount of cash had been stolen.
Two other criminal incidents during the last week were also reported as follows. Anyone with information concerning them or any other criminal activity is encouraged to call the JCSO anonymous tips line at 706-468-JCSO or call the sheriff’s office directly at 706-468-4912:
•On January 20 a resident on Mockingbird Drive reported a forced entry with nothing reported as stolen.
•On January 17 a resident on Aikenton Road reported the theft of an air conditioning unit.
Also, during the period of January 14-21 the JCSO reported the following arrests:
•Melvin Lamar Cosby, 49, Conyers—probation violation.
•Paul Ross Beebe, 67, Monticello—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
•Victoria Brianna Smith, 21, Monticello—probation violation.

•Thomas Alan Herbert, 60 Monticello—driving while unlicensed and speeding.
•Steven Kyle Camp, 18, Shady Dale—probation violation.
•Christopher Lance Fowler, Jr., 24, Shady Dale—probation violation.
During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 169 calls for service including 54 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 17 alarms, 13 subject needs officer, 11 sex offender check, seven accident, four each livestock on road, welfare and juvenile complaint.
Also, three each assist motorist, intoxicated pedestrian, escort or convoy, mechanical break down, theft by taking, threatening/harassing calls and attempt to serve warrant, two each intoxicated driver, pick up prisoner/subject, trouble unknown and checking location.
Also, one each dog disturbance, burglary, speeding auto, courtesy ride, direct traffic, fire/brush, fire/other, fire/structure, person dead, overdose, child abuse/molestation, crowd disbursement, missing person, child custody case, discharge firearms, property found, vandalism of property, road hazard, trespassing, persons refuse to leave, vgcsa, fraud/theft by deceiving and identity fraud/theft.
In addition, during the period mentioned above the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the following arrests:
•Suzanne Barnes, 41, Monticello—terroristic threats and acts, false statements/writing and reckless conduct.
•Anthony B. Jackson, 53, Monticello—disorderly conduct.
During this same period officers with the MPD responded to 52 calls for service including 16 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, nine escort or convoy, four subject needs officer, three vandalism of property, two music/noise complaint.
