Several Are Arrested
The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) reported the following two recent criminal incidents:

•On February 15 a business establishment on Edwards Road reported a burglary with no listing of any items taken.
•On February 9 a resident on Hwy. 83 South reported the theft of Adderall and Xanax prescription medications.
Anyone with information concerning these two incidents, or any other criminal activity, are encouraged to contact the JCSO on their anonymous phone line at 706-468-JCSO.
Also, during the period of February 11-18 the JCSO reported the following arrests:
•William Rayford Jones, 44, Monticello—disorderly conduct.
•Taylor Meagan Jones, 19, Monticello—disorderly conduct.
•Jonathan Lance Knight, 21, Covington—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving while license suspended or revoked and expired license plate.
•Johnny Michael Herrington, 50, Homerville—theft by receiving stolen property, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, driving while license revoked or suspended and license plate violation.
During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 164 calls for service including 45 road hazard, 17 each accident and alarm, 16 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 10 subject needs officer, five courtesy ride, four each mechanical bread down, threatening/harassing calls and vandalism of property, there welfare check, two each dog disturbance, burglary, speeding auto, livestock on road, escort or convoy, fire/structure, juvenile complaint and attempt to serve warrant, one each prowler report, domestic, subject with firearms, direct traffic, fire/other, need assistance, pick up prisoner/subject, mental person, shortness of breath, child abuse/molestation, rape, extra patrol, possible suicide, trouble unknown, music/noise complaint, checking location, argument, sex offender check abandoned vehicle and stalking.
Also during this period the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the following arrests:
•Jack Michael Barber, 53, Monticello—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
•Michael Anthony Stewart, 42, Monticello—possession of marijuana less than one ounce.
During this same period officers with the MPD responded to 85 calls for service including 14 road hazard, 13 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 12 alarm, seven escort or convoy, five each fire/structure and courtesy ride, four accident, three juvenile complaint, two each fire/other, welfare check and private property, one each domestic, subject with firearms, assist motorist, speeding auto, fire alarm, shortness of breath, miscellaneous fire, crowd disbursement, electrical wires down, subject needs officer, discharge firearms, shoplifting, trespassing and argument.
