Trivia Night Is January 30

The sixth annual Trivia Night at Jasper County High School to support the JCHS academic teams is set for Thursday, Jan. 30, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Teams of up to five members consisting of church groups, school groups, civic groups, families, friends, businesses, etc. are invited to participate. The more the merrier says Tyson Harty, event organizer. Some 17 teams competed last year, with a good number of people in the audience.

The event has turned into a great opportunity to enjoy a rousing night of fun trivia and community competition and to support the JCHS Academic Teams.

In addition to the competition, there is free popcorn; pizza and drinks available, and name that tune is a big part of the competition.

The teams that benefit include the extracurricular academic teams such as Academic Quiz Team, Georgia Envirothon, Speech & Debate. In order to attend competitions, the teams must pay entry fees and purchase training materials, and they are counting on community support to assist them in attending as many competitions as possible.

Teams may consist of no more than five members, so everyone is encouraged to be watching Jeopardy and bring their thinking caps!

Concessions, including pizza by the slice, will be on sale and teams will receive points for right answers, enthusiasm/community participation and team coordination . . . and as always, there will be a special songbird recognition for the team who guesses the highest number of correct artists and song titles from audio clips.

Those who plan on sponsoring or competing on a team, are asked to let Dr. Harty know as soon as possible via email (tharty@jasper.k12.ga.us) or phone (706-468-5016 x1409). Then make checks payable to “Jasper County High School” in the amount of $50 and send it to: Jasper County High School, Attn: Dr. Tyson Harty, 14477 Hwy 11 N, Monticello, GA 31064.

Please postmark by Monday, Jan. 27. All entries after that date should be hand delivered on the date of the competition and the late entry fee at the door is $75.
