Richmond James “Richie” Steele
Richmond James “Richie” Steele, 20, of Monticello, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in Palmetto.
Richie Steele was born on July 7, 1993, in Conyers. He was a loving person with a tender heart, always putting others before himself. As a young child, he loved playing baseball and his love of sports continued throughout his life watching football, especially Georgia Tech. One of his greatest joys was playing Yu-Gi-Oh! cards with his friends. Whenever Mr. Steele had the opportunity, he was either listening to music or playing the guitar.
Mr. Steele was a 2011 Jasper County High School graduate. His friends and teachers knew that he was a hard worker and strived for perfection. His determination carried over to his first job as an employee of Ingles. Because of his hard work and determination, Mr. Steele was promoted to management as a Customer Service Representative to begin at the start of 2014. His dream was to manage Ingles in the near future.
Mr. Steele was a blessing; during his life he wanted to work hard and help everyone. He gave blood at every opportunity and he wanted to be an organ donor. On December 30, 2013, Mr. Steele was called home by the Lord. As an organ donor, his gift was a tremendous second chance at life for numerous recipients.
Though Mr. Steele may no longer be with us in body, his love, generosity, concern and care for others, his love for his family and friends, and his desire to leave this world better is an inspiration to everyone and he will never leave us in spirit.
Anyone that knew Richie knows that he would tell us “I got this cause I’m going to Heaven like a Boss.”
He is survived by his parents, Belinda and Jeff Schell and Mike and Angie Steele, all of Monticello; brothers and sisters, Luke Steele, Savannah Steele, and Krista Steele of Monticello, Cam Steele of Las Vegas, Nev., Aaron Nelson and Ryan Nelson of Monticello, and Cassie Schell of Covington; grandparents, Elaine Barnett and Ray Camp of Forsyth; Jerry and Linda Steele of Buford; David and Elaine Roberts of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; Roy Tarleton of Monticello; and Cindy Schell of Covington; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
