Bennie Freeman Goolsby

Bennie Freeman Goolsby, Jr., 51, died Friday, Nov. 29 at his residence in Greenville, S.C. after an extended illness.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at Sunshine United Methodist Church Cemetery in Round Oak. The Rev. Jason Wade officiated.

Mr. Goolsby was born April 19, 1962, in Jonesboro, Ark. and had lived in Greenville, S.C. for the past 38 years. He was the son of Bennie Freeman Goolsby, Sr. and the late Madelyn Jean Swindle Goolsby. After completing his education, Mr. Goolsby worked as a plant manager for Alman Plastic and was a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church in Taylors, S.C.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Goolsby.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Marie Blackburn Goolsby; father, Bennie Goolsby, Sr.; sisters, Brenda Chapman and Sudye Hammons; and a number of other relatives.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
