Clay Cougar Compete in Sparta

Cougars James Marks, Britton Bailey and Mitch Marsh each scored over the 100 mark as the Piedmont Academy Clay Crushing Cougars competed at a competition at Old Hudson Plantation in Sparta Nov. 15-16.

Marks compiled 105 points while Bailey and Marsh were close behind with 104. Zach Sanders finished with a 98 followed by Malcom Tyler (90), Hunter Whiting (83), Zach Mooney (82), Payden Cantera (81), Zach Whitwell (79), Joseph Anderson (78), Will Tillman (78), Mills Smith (77) and Morgan Tillman (70).

Anne Marie Hilebrant’s scored of 95 was good enough for third place in the girls division.

The competition consisted of 150 targets, 50 skeet and 100 sporting clays.

“We are extremely proud of the progress the entire team has made and the hard work they continue to put into each practice,” coaches said.

The JV Clay Crushing Cougars finished third at the event in Sparta.

Browning Benton led the JV team with a round of 88 followed by Eli Waits (79), Garret King (63), Owen Brady (62) and Caleb Coffee (54.)

The Clay Crushing Cougars are scheduled to travel to Savannah for the two-day clay target state meet Dec. 6-7 at the Forrest City Gun Club.

The JV team consists of Owen Brady, Eli Waits, Browning Benton, Garrett King, and Caleb Coffee.
