James E. ‘Jim’ Brown, Sr.
James Edward “Jim” Brown, Sr., 82, of Milan, died Wednesday, Nov.3, 2013 at the Dodge County Hospital.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, Nov. 15, at 2 p.m. at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Jack Lee officiating. Interment will be in Antioch #2 Cemetery, Milan.
Mr. Brown was born in Indianapolis, Ind., and was raised in Putnam County, by his sister Ruby “Sis” Brown Sills and Roland “Pop” Sills. He was a member of Antioch #2 Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He earned his BSPH in pharmacy from the University of Georgia School of Pharmacy in 1958 and was a practicing pharmacist for 52 years.
Mr. Brown was the former owner and operator of City Pharmacy in Monticello, was a longtime pharmacist at Eastman Drugs for 20 years, and he retired from the Medical Center Prescription Shop. He was a former member of the Monticello Jaycees, the Hurricane Booster Club, the Hunter Pope Country Club, and the Eatonton VFW.
He was the son of the late Lillian Pearl McClelland Brown and Tobais “Toby” Brown. He was the husband of the late Barbara Faye Bowen Brown and was preceded in death by his sister who raised him, as well as three brothers, Ted Brown, Herbert Brown, and Gilbert Brown.
Survivors include a daughter, Lou Ann Boland of Canton, a son, James E. “Jimmy” Brown, Jr. of Milan; grandson, Candler Boland of Canton; fiancé, Lillie McCook of Milan, and a number of other relatives and inlaws.
