Cougars Rack Up Stats

The Piedmont Academy football team concluded its 2013 season recently but not before several team members posted impressive numbers.

Offensively, Hunter Knox finished with 902 yards on 162 carries with 14 touchdowns. Cameron Hammock added 492 yards on three touchdowns on 95 rushes.

Gaven Edge finished with 358 yards on 69 attempts with one touchdown.

Knox passed for 783 yards this fall with five touchdowns. Hank Strickland was the team’s leading receiver with 411 yards and three scores on 19 catches while Mills Smith finished with 155 yards and a score on five receptions.

Defensively, Malik Reid was the team’s top tackler with 63 solo and 61 assists. He also had two tackles for a loss, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble.

Dylan Efird contributed 42 solo stops and 41 assists with three tackles for a loss and one fumble recovery.

Smith finished his senior season with 40 solo tackles and 30 assists with four quarterback sacks and three tackles for a loss. Chris Cain had 34 solo stops with 46 assists and three sacks.

Evan Harvey recorded 41 solo tackles and 42 assists with four sacks, three tackles for a loss and three forced fumbles. MacKenzie Brittain finished with 31 solo tackles and 37 assists with a sack and three tackles for a loss.

Strickland registered 20 solo stops and 11 assists. Ben Davis had two interceptions while Cain had one.

Piedmont Academy’s varsity football banquet is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 5, at 6:30 p.m.
