MEMBERS OF HURRICANE HOMECOMING COURT WITH ESCORTS AT HALFTIME FRIDAY

Heather Harrison was crowned Jasper County High School’s Homecoming Queen during halftime Friday as the Monticello Hurricanes were defeating Crawford County.

Emily Axman was also crowned Miss Hurricane for 2013. Miss Hurricane has “a good academic record, attendance record, and is the epitome of what every student should strive to be.”

The homecoming court included representatives from each grade level and included seniors, Miss Harrison, Brittany Pittman, Morgan Rice, Courtney Smith, Tierra Whitlock.

Junior representatives included Taylor Brown, Kolby DeGarmo, Brandi McMichael, and Jamyer Sands; sophomore representatives include Regan Duke, Juliean Parr, and Shelby Parrish.

Freshman representatives were Riliegh Evans and Jace DeGarmo.

Homecoming Queen Miss Harrison was escorted by her step-father Neal O’Brien. She is the daughter of Veronica and Neal O’ Brian and the late Scott Harrison.

Her plans for the future include becoming a pediatric nurse. She has been a member of HOSA, BETA and yearbook for three years. She is also a member of FBLA, has played golf and softball for three years and was on the basketball team and has been a cheerleader.

Miss Harrison is a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where she works in the nursery. Heather recognizes her mother’s influence saying, “My mom is the strongest person I know. She has taught me to do all the right things, and to carry myself with respect and always keep God first.” Miss Harrison was selected by everyone in the school.

The school celebrated homecoming all week with activities that included a banner contest, nerd/tacky day, celebrity/favorite character day, twin day, and school spirit day. There was also a pep rally, a homecoming parade and the ever popular powder puff football game.

Tristan Harper was chosen as Mr. Hurricane and was crowned during the pep rally.
