Three Charged with Contributing to Minor

The Monticello Police Department (MPD) has charged Mark David Ray, 30, and James Timothy Traylor, 28, both of Monticello, and Wayne David Barr, 60, of Franklin, with contributing to a minor by furnishing/purchase/possession of alcohol by persons under 21.

An officer with the MPD reported that on October 9, during an investigation to determine the location of a delinquent juvenile, the minor was found to be at a residence on Persons Street in the company of Mr. Ray, Mr. Traylor and Mr. Barr, and to be in possession of a bottle of Jagermeister liqueur and pack of Newport cigarettes.

After interviewing the juvenile and the three men the officer determined the three of them had picked the juvenile up on Tucker Circle, driven to the liquor store where alcohol and tobacco were purchased before returning to the residence on Persons Street.

After arresting Mr. Ray, Mr. Traylor and Mr. Barr, the juvenile was escorted to her mother’s house and then to the police department and processed into the juvenile detention center in Macon.

During the period of October 8-15 the MPD reported the following two additional arrests:

•Alonzo Bernard Jeffries, 26, Monticello—obstruction of an officer, driving while license suspended or revoked and a Jasper County Superior Court bench warrant.

•Abbie Maschelle Jackson, 28, Monticello—driving while license suspended and seat belt violation.

During this same period officers with the MPD responded to 62 calls for service including 20 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, seven subject needs officer, five escort or convoy, four theft by taking, three attempt to serve warrant, two each speeding auto, pick up prisoner/subject, threatening/harassing calls and argument, one each fight, alarm, road blocked, direct traffic, mechanical break down, fire, unconscious fall, juvenile complaint, shoplifter, stroke, license check/road block.

Also, during the period mentioned above the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) reported the following two arrests:

•Robert Neal Anthony, 36, Jackson—probation violation.

•Charles Wayne Sanders, 54, Social Circle—driving while license suspended or revoked, possession of marijuana less than one ounce, no insurance, headlight violation, carrying a concealed weapon, tail light violation, and no brake lights or turn signals.

Also, during this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 153 calls for service including 53 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 17 checking location, 12 alarm, 10 subject needs officer, seven mechanical break down, six attempt to serve warrant, five accident, three each speeding auto, live stock on road, escort or convoy, trouble unknown and threatening/harassing calls.

Also, two each domestic, assist motorist, assault, welfare check, road hazard and persons refuse to leave, one each dog disturbance, special detail, theft by taking, pick up prisoner/subject, be on the look out, unconscious, child abuse/molestation, extra patrol, juvenile complaint, discharge firearms, private property, vandalism of property, trespassing, argument, violation of GA substance act and license check/road block.
