Shady Dale Names New Fire Chief

Shady Dale city officials opened their October 2013 council meeting with a full house in attendance.

In addition to regular attendees of council and staff, volunteers from Fire Stations 2 (Shady Dale), 3 (Monticello), and 7 (Farrar) were present to show their support for retiring Fire Chief Sabrina Westbrook and the installation of new Fire Chief Sean Brown.

Following the reading of a recommendation letter from Jasper County Fire Chief Jarrett Slocumb, Mayor Don Heaton with full approval of council members, appointed Mr. Brown as Shady Dale fire chief, administered the oath of office and welcomed him to his new position. A helmet with the Fire Chief insignia was presented to Chief Brown by former Chief Westbrook who said she knew he would serve the community of Shady Dale and the community at large well.

Firefighters in attendance included Jamie Westbrook, Katie Westbrook, Alvin McMichael Bill English, Christine Hamilton, Mac Beador, Tyler Brown, Sean Brown, Aubrey English, Keith Haddock, Michelle Haddock, (not pictured) Jarret Slocumb, Ed Westbrook and former Chief Sabrina Westbrook.
