Virginia ‘Jenny’ Price Durden
Virginia “Jenny” Price Durden, 87, of Covington, died October 5, 2013.
Mrs. Durden was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Covington. She was a native of Monticello, where she was a star basketball player in high school. She lived in Covington for the past 58 years.
She attended Mercer University, and retired from Ace Hardware Distribution Center where she was Office Manager. She enjoyed traveling, bowling, golf and was an avid Braves baseball fan. Mrs. Durden was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Hesper (Whitten) Price of Monticello.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, W.R. (Bill) Durden; son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Lynn Durden of Covington; daughters and sons-in-law, Delaine and Bill Reeder of Augusta, Gina and Skipper Kitchens of Birmingham, AL; Susan and Bill Richey of Augusta; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Bauman of Michigan and Merrilynn Elliott of Monticello.
Funeral services for Mrs. Durden were to be held Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at 11 a.m., with the First Baptist Church of Covington, with Revs. Ralph Meaker, Charles Reynolds, and Tim Barnes officiating, with interment following in Covington City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church – Missions Fund, 1139 Usher Street, Covington, GA 30014.
