Linwood Callaway

Linwood Callaway, 79, of Griffin, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013 at Piedmont Fayette Hospital.

Mr. Callaway was born in Woodville, on May 21, 1934. He lived in Monticello from 1934 until 1952 when he left to join the Navy.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert I. Callaway and Fannie Penn Callaway, who were lifetime residents of Monticello. He was the grandson of J.L. Penn and Fannie Davis Penn.

Mr. Callaway was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Korean War and was a member of County Line United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Callaway; children, Robert “Robby” Callaway, Lee Callaway and wife, Wendy; grandchildren, William Callaway, Brittany Callaway, Davis Callaway, Victoria Callaway, and James Callaway.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013 at County Line United Methodist Church. Rev. Ed Swehla officiated, with interment following in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to County Line United Methodist Church, 416 County Line Church Rd., Griffin, GA 30223 in memory of Mr. Callaway.
