Piedmont Defeats Region Foe Brandon Hall
It was another region victory for the Piedmont Academy baseball team Tuesday afternoon.
Coach Danny Camp’s team defeated Brandon Hall 9-0 in a home contest as Mac Brittain went the distance and recorded another victory. Brittain had 11 strikeouts in Tuesday’s game. The Cougars are now 10-1 in region play and 17-5 overall.
“It was another solid performance,” Camp said. “We need to keep winning n the region in order to keep pace with Arlington.”
Luke Andrews was 2-for-4 against Brandon Hall with an RBI while Brittain was 1-for-3 with a run and RBI. Zack Wilson drove in three runs.

Logan Partenza finished 1-for-2 with a run and Hunter Knox was 1-for-4 with a run and RBI. Zach Beggs scored two runs while finishing 1-for-3 with an RBI. Josh Williams also scored two runs while Noah Quick scored one.
Piedmont seized control of the contest in the third as the Cougars pushed seven runs across. The team added two more in the bottom of the fifth.
Prior to Tuesday’s game the Piedmont varsity Cougars blanked Furtah Prep 15-0 on the road last week.
Piedmont jumped out to a 7-0 lead after the first inning before adding a run in the second and five more in the third. The Cougars would score runs in the fourth and fifth innings as well.
Beggs earned the win and recorded nine strikeouts. Knox was 2-for-2 at the plate with a run and RBI. Clay Kirkpatrick was 1-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored while Alan Powell was 1-for-1 with a run and RBI.
Beggs was 1-for-3 at the plate with a run and RBI while Williams was 1-for-3 with a run and two RBI. Quick was 1-for-2 with an RBI while Malcom Tyler scored two runs and had two RBI.
Piedmont will host LaGrange Academy Friday, April 26 at 4:30 p.m. and Gatewood, Saturday, April 27 at 10 a.m.
The Cougars will step out of region play Monday when they travel to Central Fellowship.
