Julia Mae Derricho
Julia Mae Gude Derricho, 92, of Shady Dale, died April 6, 2013.
Ms. Derricho was born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Jake Gude in Putnam County, August 1, 1920.
She was the last born of seven siblings, and all of them preceded her in death. They include Rev. G.F. Gude, Samuel Gude, Andrew Jake Gude, Willie Gude, Margaret Gude-Smith, and Willie Mae (Gude) Sanders and a grandchild, Charlie Russell, Jr.
Mrs. Derricho joined Greenwood Baptist Church at an early age where she served faithfully. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Senior Mission and Vice President of the Usher Board.
She married Norman Derricho in February, 1937, and he preceded her in death December 16, 2000.
To their union, eight children were born. Four children preceded her in death, including, Julia Ann Derricho, Dorothy Marie Derricho, Oscar Derricho, Sr. and Dora (Derricho) Williams.
Survivors include four children and spouses, Edgar and Ruby Derricho, Myles Derricho-Jenkins (Henry), Mr. and Mrs. John Henry Pope and David Derricho, Sr.; 26 grandchildren; 57 great- grandchildren; 32 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives, inlaws and friends.
Services were held Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Greenwood Baptist Church in Shady Dale. Mrs. Derricho’s body was taken to Shady Dale from Monticello in a horse-drawn hearse leading the procession of family and friends.
Evergreen-Monticello Funeral Home, 111 Venture Court, Monticello, Ga 31064, was in charge of arrangements.
