‘Canes Lose to Taylor and Lamar

The Varsity Hurricanes baseball team lost 11-0 to Taylor Co. Tuesday. in what was an emotional loss in five innings.
Walt McMichael led the hitting going 2 for 3 in five innings and he was hit by a pitch. Breland Crowe hit a hard line drive just over third base for a single in one of his at bats.
Tyler Mote was on the mound for the ’Canes earning three strikeouts and holding Taylor to four runs in three innings. It was the fourth when Taylor scored four runs between Mote and Tyler Seawright who came in for relief.
Seawright earned three strikeouts finishing out the fourth and fifth to end the game for the ’Canes.

Defensively, the ’Canes recorded four errors. These errors were costly allowing Taylor to score on two.
The ’Canes took a loss at Lamar Co. last Friday, 10-5 with Quinton Standifer and Tony Shumate leading the ’Canes at the plate.
Dustin Womack pitched just over 3 innings and held Lamar to 3 runs in those three innings.
The ’Canes and Lamar were tied at three after the first inning and the ‘Canes were able to hold on taking the lead with a run in the fourth. Lamar rallied in the sixth earning three runs and then earning an additional three in the seventh, with the ’Canes unable to come back scoring just one run in the seventh.
