Joe Tripp, Jr.

Mr. Joe Tripp, Jr., 86, died April 3, 2012.

Mr. Tripp was born October 29, 1926 to the late Joseph and Mary Bell Tripp in Jasper County.

He received his education at the Freedonia Public School in Jasper County. He joined Freedonia A.M.E. Church at a young age.

Mr. Tripp married Annette Davis Tripp on December 20, 1952.

He was employed at Georgia Pacific Corporation for 16 years. Mr. Tripp loved his family and friends, and was not a stranger to anyone. He was a hard worker, a dedicated husband and a loving father.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Leila Mae Binion and Odessa West; and three brothers, Jesse James, Ira Melvin and Robert Charles Tripp.

In addition to his wife, survivors include sons, Joe David, Ray Charles, and Benjamin Barrow Tripp of Monticello; John Glen and wife Stephanie Tripp of Covington, and Larry and Renee Pearson of Monticello; six daughters, Doris Deloris Tripp Moore and Pamela Annette Tripp Digby, both of Monticello; and Deborah Ann Matthew of Covington, Linda Diane Epps of Macon, Patricia Lynn Nolley of McDonough, and Mae McClendon Jackson, of Atlanta; adopted sons, Preston, Jerome and Melvin West all of Atlanta, Johnny Davis of Tampa, Fla., and a dedicated nephew, Merari Tripp along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A home going celebration for Mr. Tripp will be held Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Springfield Baptist Church, 837 Hillsboro Street in Monticello. Rev. Jimmy Horton is the pastor of Springfield and Rev. Erich V. Fladger will give the eulogy.

Smith and Sons Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
