Middle School Cougars Play Two Double-Headers

JOSEPH ANDERSON MAKES CATCH

Piedmont Academy’s Middle School baseball team battled Mt. de Sales and Stratford last week.

Both days saw the teams play doubleheaders. Piedmont fell to Mt. de Sales 7-2 and 9-2 and then split a pair of games with Stratford, winning the opener 5-2 before falling 9-0.

“We didn’t play well against Mt. de Sales so it was good that we rebounded and played well in both games against Stratford,” coach Dan Funt said. “We evened our record in league play at 1-1. I was really proud of the effort Saturday against Stratford. I hope the players keep the momentum up.”

In the first game against Mt. de Sales, Michael Edwards was the starting pitcher and worked three innings with five strikeouts. The eighth grader allowed two earned runs. Mack Brady worked 1.1 innings of relief and did not allow an earned run while striking out one batter.
