James Byron Ficklen, Jr.

James Byron Ficklen, Jr., 69, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013.

Mr. Ficklen, formerly of Winder, was a native of Jacksonville, Ala., and had made his home in Monticello.

He was the son of the late James B. Ficklen, Sr. and the late Willa Mae Wright Ficklen.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and was a member of the Masons as well as The Sons of the Confederacy. He was a member of the Horizon Baptist Church.

Mr. Ficklen is survived by his wife, Fanny Foster “Mickey” Ficklen of Monticello; son, James B. Ficklen, III of S.C.; daughters Leslie Ann Fike of N.C., and Barbara Helen Ficklen of Fla.; stepson, Craig Nielsen, of Buford; stepdaughter, Sonia Nielsen of Winder; grandsons James Matthew Ficklen of Georgia and Ryan Nicholas Ficklen of N.C.; step-granddaughter Riley N. Nielsen of Buford; and his sisters Dianne Lightfoot and Anna Kate Ficklen both of Ala.; and longtime and dear friend, Josh Hawk of Col.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 2, 2013 in the Williams Funeral Home Chapel of Eatonton with Revs. Dave Hinson and Mike Davis officiating. Interment will be private.
