Burglars Make Off With Guns and Cash

A resident on Hwy. 11 south in Hillsboro reported a major burglary to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) on Saturday, according to a report from the office.

Reported missing was a large amount of cash and several guns including a Remington model 770 hunting rifle, a Remington model BDL rifle, a Smith and Wesson .38 caliber hand gun and an un described British firearm.

On February 22, the day before, a resident on Bear Creek Marina Road reported the theft of a large amount of money in gold coins.

Also, during the period of February 19-26 the JCSO reported the following arrests:

• Ramiro Lopez, 33, Shady Dale—failure to maintain lane and driving without a license.

• Jeffery Lamar Norwood, 51, Monticello—probation violation.

• Maynard Elroy Ratzel, 37, Monticello—battery, the third of subsequent offense.

• Michelle Lynn Hart, 43, Monticello—obstruction of an officer (two counts) and battery, the second of subsequent offense.

• David Scott Hill, 53, Mansfield—hold for warrant in Alabama.

• Rachel Felice Terrell, 30, McDonough—probation violation.

• Timothy James Mize, 45, Stone Mountain—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, open container and passing in a no passing zone.

• Hal Winston Cline, Jr., 57, Covington—probation violation.

• Sandy Gaile Andrews, 44, Monticello—false report of a crime and simple battery.

• John David Keasler, 65, Monticello—battery.

• Robert Thomas Newsome, 33, Sterrett, AL—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and stopping, standing or parking prohibited in specified place.

• Collen James Kennedy, 37, Eatonton—driving while license suspended or revoked.

• Shane Dillon Griffith, 21, Covington—criminal Trespass.

• Qiana Daviete Manning, 33, Jenkinsburg—probation violation.

During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 199 calls for service including 92 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 17 alarm, nine subject needs officer, eight accident, seven domestic, six mechanical breakdown, five each assist motorist and escort or convoy, four each theft by taking, pick up prisoner and extra patrol, three each burglary and dead or arrival.

Also, two each speeding auto, courtesy ride, intoxicated driver, trouble unknown, threatening/harassing calls, vandalism of property, road hazard and attempt to serve a warrant, one each livestock on road, special detail, mental person, shortness of breath, assault, deliver emergency message, welfare check four wheeler, request additional unit, child custody case, juvenile complaint, discharge firearms, music/noise complaint, sick and identity fraud/theft.

Also during this period the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the two following arrests:

• Gregory Loresco Thurman, 47, Monticello—probation violation.

• Robert Lee Maddox, 48, Monticello—child support.

During this period officers with the MPD responded to 51 calls for service including nine stopping suspicious person/vehicle, six alarm, four each escort or convoy and 911 hang up, three domestic, two each burglary, extra patrol, subject needs officer, juvenile complaint, music/noise complaint, checking location and argument, one each fight, accident, direct traffic, fire alarm, special detail, assist invalid, fireworks, trouble unknown, shoplifter, sick and attempt to serve warrant.

Also during this time period the Georgia State Patrol reported the arrest of Scott Daniel Bloodworth, 25, of Milledgeville, and charged him with driving under the influence, open container, failure to stop at stop sign, seat belt violation and failure to maintain lane.
