Theft by Taking Reported for Stolen Loot

Last Friday, February 15, the property owner of a residence on Hwy. 212 west reported to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) the theft of multiple items and a possible violation of a protective order from January 8, 2013.

The items reported to have been stolen included a GE dryer and microwave, set of four aluminum wheels for a Land Rover, a Porter Cable trim gun, a ceramic tile saw, a Dewalt skill saw and hammer drill with charger and case, a Husqvarna chainsaw, air hoses and a propane heater, all coming to an estimated value of almost $3,000.

Also on February 15, a resident on Meadows Road in Newborn reported the theft of gasoline.

Also, on Saturday, Feb. 16, three different roadblocks were implemented at three separate locations at three different times during the night.

The primary purpose for the checkpoints was to check driver’s license, insurance status and registration.

There were eight deputies from the Jasper County Sheriff’s officers, trained in Standardized Field Sobriety testing present to conduct the tests.

There were several people screened for possible impairments. Two of those drivers were arrested for DUI and are listed in the report below.

There was also a K-9 present that was sued to search three vehicles throughout the night, one of which resulted in the search revealing a misdemeanor amount of marijuana in the vehicle, according to an announcement from the JCSO.

In addition, during the period of January 12-18 the JCSO reported the following arrests:

• Jose Ramio Salcedo, 42, Snellville—driving with no license, tail light violation and failure to dim lights.

• Christopher Lane Fowler, Jr., 23, Shady Dale—probation violation.

• Mark Edward Pringle, 29, Covington—probation violation.

• Kayla Rachelle Smith, 23, Monticello—battery.

• Thomas Jason Wyatt, 37, Monticello—probation violation.

• Armando Cornelio, 40, Shady Dale—simple battery and cruelty to children in the first degree.

• Travis Lavar Jenkins, 32, Milledgeville—driving while license suspended or revoked and failure to dim headlights.

• Courtney Maurice Felton, 30, Lithonia—possession of marijuana less than one ounce.

• Adam Lee Phillips, 19, Mansfield—probation violation.

• James Wiley Grier, 57, Monticello—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and open container.

• Michael Andrew Ammons, 50, Monticello—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and open container.

• Christian Guadalupe Jimenez, 17, Covington—stop sign violation and possession of marijuana less than one ounce.

• Tina Young Kraudy, 34, Conyers—Jasper County Superior Court Bench Warrant.

• Crystal Lea Kennedy, 30, Eatonton—hold for warrant in Putnam County.

• Collen James Kennedy, 37, Eatonton—hold for warrant in Putnam County.

• Kerry Lydell Jackson, 39, Monticello—probation violation.

During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 230 calls for service including 119 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 12 subject needs officer, 10 each alarm and accident, seven pick up prisoner/subject, six vandalism of property, five assist motorist, three each prowler report, domestic, mechanical break down, special detail, four wheeler, juvenile complaint, road hazard and license check/road block.

Also, two each burglary, livestock on road, be on the look out, extra patrol, child custody case, fireworks, music/noise complaint, checking location and argument, one each fight, speeding auto, direct traffic, escort or convoy, fire/structure, theft by taking, shortness of breath, welfare check, counterfeit, private property, road rage, trouble unknown, threatening/harassing calls, trespassing, persons refuse to leave, illegal dumping/littering, fraud/theft by deceiving, identity fraud theft and 911 hang up.

Also, during the period mentioned above the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the following arrests:

• James Jarriel Greenway, 19, Shady Dale—fleeing or attempting to elude an officer and tail light violation.

• David Allen Smith, 37, Monticello—hold for warrant in Newton County.

• Gregory Garnett Robinson, Jr., 21, Monticello—disorderly conduct.

During this period officers with the MPD responded to 34 calls for service including five stopping suspicious person/vehicle, four escort or convoy, three each subject needs officer and music/noise complaint, two each accident and trouble unknown, one each fight, burglary, domestic, assist motorist, speeding auto, direct traffic, improperly parked vehicles, juvenile complaint, discharge firearms, threatening/harassing calls, vandalism of property, road hazard, identity fraud/theft, seizure and 911 hang up.
