Shiloh Basketball Teams Stay Busy

Shiloh Christian Academy middle school basketball teams traveled to Watkinsville to face Westminster Christian Academy last Monday each returning home with a victory.

The Lady Knights got revenge for an earlier season home loss winning 29-24. McKenzie Tolbert led the scoring with 20 points, while Rachael Jackson added 5, and Maddy Davidson had 4.

The Knights jumped on the home squad early and played the entire bench, cruising to a 43-16 win. Shiloh was led by Sam Mitchell with 15 points, R.J. Whitlock with 14, and Parker Wyatt with 6.

Last Tuesday the Jr. Pro boys and both middle school teams traveled to Greensboro for three games and swept Lake Oconee in close games. The Knights rallied late from a two point deficit by scoring the last four points which included the game winning shot with five seconds left, for a 19-17 win.

SCA was led by Brian Cumbess with 7 points, while Riley Young had 6, Matt Mitchell added 4, and Austin Cumbess scored 2.

The middle school Lady Knights played shorthanded due to injury and edged out the Lady Titans for a 18-17 win. Tolbert scored 10, and Jackson 5.

The middle school boys also rallied from being down 12-6 at halftime to win the game 27-25. Whitlock led the Knights scoring with 15 Mitchell added 7.

Last Thursday the junior varsity boys and both varsity teams hosted Covenant Christian Cougars and were swept by the visitors.

The JV boys held a late 37-34 lead, but the hot-shooting CCA team hit a couple of three pointers in the final minute to prevail by a final of 40-37.

Whitlock led the Knights with 20 points, while Justin Clark and David Sorrells had 7 each.

The varsity girls competed hard against a Lady Cougar team that had beaten them handily earlier in the season and drew within striking distance on several occasions, losing at the final buzzer.

The varsity boys were overwhelmed by an athletic and experienced varsity squad and fell 66-22. Whitlock led the scoring with 10 points, and Jacob Young had 4.

Last Friday the middle school Knights played at Lake Dow Christian Academy and each brought home a win.

The MS Lady Knights led early and cruised to a easy 31-13 win. The scoring was led by Tolbert with 17 points and Davidson added 8.

In the boy’s game, the Knights played through a sluggish first half that saw them enter the locker room down 20-5 at halftime. SCA responded to the call in the second half, storming back for a 35-31 win. 15 of the points were from Mitchell and 11 were from Whitlock. Johnathan Martin also had 5 points.

Saturday, the middle school squads and the junior varsity boys hosted Central Fellowship Christian winning two of three.

The middle school girls once again led early, earning another easy win 35-18 at the end. Scoring was again led by Tolbert with 16 and Jakcson with 12.

The middle school boys had a sluggish start never recovered, falling to the visitors 48-32. Mitchell led the Knights with 12 points and Whitlock added 10 in the loss.

The junior varsity boys had a good day and played a balanced game that saw them earn a 44-37 win over the Lancers. Whitlock led with 21 while Sorrells added 13, and Clark had 7.

The middle school and junior varsity teams are scheduled to play at Macon Area Christian today, Jan. 24. Home action will return on Friday, Jan. 25 when the junior pro boys and both middle school teams host Covenant Christian Academy.
