John Dozier Persons, Jr.
John Dozier Persons, Jr. of Asheboro, N.C., formerly of Monticello, died January 14, 2013 at his residence.
He was the son of the late John Dozier Persons Sr. and Fleeta White Persons, lifelong residents of Monticello.
He was a graduate of Monticello High School, Young Harris College and Mercer University. He also attended the Medical College of Georgia prior to going into service.
He was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Mr. Persons was a registered Medical Technologist certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the North Atlantic Theater. Prior to his retirement in 1992, he was a sales representative for Progress Casket Company in Arthur, IL and Toccoa Casket Company for 43 years. His father and he sold Haisten Funeral Home caskets for over 75 years.
Survivors include his daughters, Deborah Persons and Claudia Letterman, sons John D. Persons, III and Stanley Persons and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for John Dozier Persons, Jr. were held January 17, 2013 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home in Jackson. Dr. Ed Hoard officiated with interment in the West View Cemetery in Monticello.
Haisten Funeral Home of Jackson was in charge of arrangements.
