Leo Schoenith, Sr.

Mr. Leo Schoenith, Sr., 93, of Monticello died January 6, 2013.

He was born in Canada on August 25, 1919 to the late Emil and Juley Schoenith. Mr. Schoenith was retired from the United States Army where he served his country proudly for 23 years and then retired from the civil service after servicing 15 more years. He loved wood working, enjoyed train sets and was a great race fan.

Mr. Schoenith is survived by his wife Helen Schoenith of Monticello, his children and their spouses; Johnny and Cec Schoenith and Michael Schoenith of Monticello, Mary Lou and Billy Jones of Monticello, Linda Vaughan on Durham, NC Julie and Ronnie Jones of Athens, Donna Bursley of Montgomery, AL and Lisa and Jerry Johnson of Stedman, NC and his 18 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

He is also survived by his brother and sisters Carl and Shirley Schoenith, Lillian Reynolds, June Grulke, Teresa and Wayne Hopps, Pat and Joe Irwin all of Michigan and Marietta and Dutch Lubbs of Tennessee.

Funeral services for Mr. Schoenith will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Big J Farm in Monticello.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2013.
