Louis Chester Alparone
Louis Chester Alparone, 82, of Monticello, died Thursday, November 27, 2012, at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle.
Mr. Alparone was born in San Francisco, Calif. and his parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert Alparone. “Lou” served in the U.S. Navy as a cook in his early twenties. He moved to Monticello 10 years ago. He spent his working career as a butcher and was a member of the (AMCA) Amalgamated Meat Cutters Association. He loved working and retired four years ago at the age of 78 from the Piggly Wiggly in Jackson.
He and his brothers and sisters were musically talented and loved playing the accordion. He had a passion for Italian food and never spent a morning without coffee and a doughnut. He also had a passion for the music of Frank Sinatra, Neil Diamond, and Dean Martin; and loved the films made with Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin.
He loved garage sales, flea markets, swap meets, and his dogs that he owned throughout the years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Merry Pia Alparone; son, Michael Louis Alparone; sisters, Connie, Ann, and Tessie; and brothers, Frank, Eddie, and Patrick Alparone.
Survivors include his daughters, Judith A. Church of Illinois, Laurie Meyers of Central Point, Ore., Patricia A. Richardson of Casper, Wyo., and Ann Marie Alparone of Oroville, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; step-children, Scott Preston and Amy Baxter of Monticello, and Mike Preston of Raleigh, N.C.; and sister, Dottie Griffin of New Jersey.
Jordan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
