Golf Carts Are Stolen from Turtle Cove Home

Golf carts have been reported stolen from the Turtle Cove Clubhouse in the past. Last Saturday night, or early Sunday morning the thieves made off with two golf carts from two separate private residences.

According to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) at approximately 9 a.m. the office received a report from a resident on Flicker Court reporting that a golf cart had been stolen from his front yard. Approximately two and one-half hours later the JCSO received a similar report from a resident on Chickadee Court.

Later on Sunday afternoon the cart which was stolen from Flicker Court, along with a previously missing cart from the Turtle Cove Clubhouse, was discovered by hunters inthe woods off of Jackson Lake Road.

Also, the cart stolen from Chickadee Court was found lying on its side in the middle of Cook Road. The carts were recovered in damaged condition, however, there is still one cart missing that was stolen earlier from the clubhouse.

The JCSO reports they do have some suspects in the case, however, anyone with any information concerning the above or any other crimes are encouraged to call the JCSO at 706-468-4912, or use the anonymous tips line, 706-468-JCSO.

Two other criminal incidents reported by the JCSO are as follows:

• On November 25 a resident on North Cook Road reported the theft of a female pit/boxer mixed dog, brown with a white chest and white spot on back of neck.

• A resident on Gap Creek Dive in Newborn reported a theft by conversion that happened on October 2, during which a check was issued for $1,117 for the cost and installation of granite counter tops.

As of this day the suspect has not been in touch with the victims after cashing their check the day it was written.

Also, during the period of November 27 to December 4 the JCSO reported the following arrests:

• Wendy Marie Jones, 27, Ellenwood—escape and probation violation.

• Ryan David Middlebrooks, 32, Monticello—stalking.

• Jeremy Earl Griffin, 35, Hillsboro—deposit account fraud.

• Mitchell Alton Sailors, 44, Monticello—simple battery.

• Kevin Alfred Lamondo, 49, Monticello—possession of meth.

• Marquez Antrione Thomas, 30 Monticello—child support.

• Anita Maria Middlebrooks, 43, Monticello—fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and speeding.

During this same period deputies with the JCSO reported responding to 142 calls for service including 46 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 17 alarm, nine subject needs officer, six each theft by taking and pickup prisoner/subject, five each mechanical break down and threatening/harassing calls, four each assist motorist, accident and livestock on road, three each speeding auto and juvenile complaint, two each burglary, domestic, escort or convoy, discharge firearms, vandalism of property, road hazard and persons refuse to leave, one each fight, dog disturbance, prowler report, intoxicated pedestrian, mental person, chest pain, injury, miscellaneous ems, extra patrol, welfare check, four wheeler, child custody case, attempt to serve warrant, fraud/theft by deceiving, sick and transport of patient.

During the period mentioned above the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the following arrests:

• Delevente Sanchez Hardwick, 19, Monticello—possession of marijuana less than one ounce.

• Clayton Scott Hardy, 18, Monticello—possession of marijuana less than one ounce and seat belt violation.

Also during this period, officers with the MPD reported responding to 74 calls for service including 49 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, three each alarm and argument, two each burglary, escort or convoy, theft by taking, welfare check and subject needs officer, one each accident, hit and run, fire, utility department needed, injury, trouble unknown, shoplifter, sick and vandalism of property.
