Shiloh Posts Wins in Sparta and Greensboro

Shiloh Christian Academy basketball continued last week with the middle school and varsity teams facing the John Hancock Rebels in four games.

The younger teams were able to split their games with the girls losing in the final seconds, and the boys winning.

Both varsity teams came up short as the Lady Knights put up a valiant effort, while the boys were decimated by the flu bug and took a hard shorthanded loss.

In the middle school girls game, the Lady Knights led with a minute to go before foul trouble caused them to finish with only four players on the floor.

The Lady Rebels were able to score a couple of late baskets and defeat SCA by a final of 24-22.

Maddy Davidson led Shiloh with 10 points while Ambriel Wyatt added 5 and Laura Miller 2.

In the boys game, SCA jumped out to a 9-3 first quarter lead and never looked back as the entire roster was able to play and contribute to a 27-20 win.

R. J. Whitlock continued his good work on the season by chipping in a season-high 17 points. Sam Mitchell scored 6 and Will Mitchell and Parker Wyatt rounded out the Knight scoring with 2 each.

The varsity Lady Knights fell behind early and drew the game to single digits on several occasions before losing 46-34.

Remington Marsh led Shiloh with 13 points, followed by Ashlyn Kerbow with 9, and Wyatt with 6.

In the boys game, three players were out with illness and two others tried to play sick. In the end, the boys were overpowered by the Rebels, and lost 56-16.

Whitlock led the scoring with 8, while Justin Clark scored 4, and Sam Mitchell and Johnathan Martin had 2 each. Both varsity teams are now 0-3 for the season.

Last Monday, the junior pro boys and the middle school teams travelled to Greensboro to take on the Titans of Lake Oconee Academy.

SCA was able to win two out of three during exciting games that were all decided by three points or less.

The junior pro boys are now 1-1, while both middle school teams improved their records to 3-3 with their wins.

In the junior pro boys game, Shiloh jumped out to a 8-1 halftime lead but then the shooting went cold and they did not make a basket in the second half, losing 13-10.

Brian Cumbess and Matt Mitchell both had 4 for the young cagers, while Austin Cumbess added a basket.

In the middle school girls game, the Lady Knights withstood a furious rally from the Lady Titans and held on for a 18-16 win. Leading scorers were McKenzie Tolbert with 10, Maddy Davidson added 6 and Laura Miller had 2.

The SCA middle school boys won their second game in a row surviving a late rally the Titans, with the final 21-20. Whitlock scored 14 and Sam Mitchell had 7.

The Knights return to action today, Nov. 29 with the junior varsity and varsity teams at Peoples Baptist Academy in McDonough. The four games start at 4 p.m.

The junior pro boys and the middle school teams travel to Loganville Friday, Nov. 30 to play Covenant Christian Academy and the junior pro boys and girls teams host Eatonton’s Gatewood School on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 10 a.m.
