Robyn Mullis Is Only Player with 12 Right

ROBYN MULLIS (L), RITA GOODMAN

Robyn Mullis, new principal of Jasper County High School was the only player to correctly guess the winners in 12 football contest match-ups last week in what was a hard week for contest players.

When Mrs. Mullis got the call from The News staff that she won, she responded ecstatically, “I did!!! That’s great! I know that I missed some of the pro games.”

And that she did. Two of the three she missed were NFL games. She did correctly guess that the undefeated Atlanta Falcons would continue their winning ways and beat former Atlanta quarterback Mike Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Mrs. Mullis picked up a $25 prize from Rita Goodman at Dairy Queen, sponsor of the week, and overall strong school athletic supporter. (Each week the Dairy Queen awards a Player of the Week with coupons for free food, and recognizes them in The Monticello News.).

Although this is Mrs. Mullis’s first year as high school principal here, she has lived here for some time. However, she just began playing the contest this year.

Mrs. Mullis was the only addition to the honor roll this week as well, a very drastic change from last week when 75 people made the honor roll, meaning they correctly guessed the winners in 12 or more games listed.

There were however, 16 players close behind her with 11 games correct. But they did not make honor roll.

There are a few weeks left for contest players to get their name on the honor roll for the first time or an additional chance at the Grand Prize Package of four tickets to the Chick-Fil-A Bowl in Atlanta.

This week, the challenge is to beat out the rest for a prize from sponsor, Monticello Pawn Shop. So sharpen your pencils and submit the contest entry located on page 19 of today’s paper by 5 p.m. tomorrow, Nov. 2. Complete rules are on the page. Remember to write legibly and get your entry in by 5 p.m. tomorrow.

Entries may be brought in person to 237 West Washington Street, about a half-block west of the Monticello Square, or faxed to 706-468-6576.
