‘Getaway Driver’ Pleads in Court

Haley Noelle Blackmon, pled guilty in criminal court Tuesday to a reduced charge of robbery. Miss Blackmon allegedly drove the get-a-way car in the January 1, 2011 armed robbery of Susie Q’s Convenience Store on Hwy 11 North, Monticello.

Ms. Blackmon was originally charged with armed robbery, possession of a weapon during the attempt of a crime. She was sentenced to 10 years with two years to serve, $1,332 in fines and fees, and is due to turn herself in to the Jasper County Jail on January 1, 2013 to begin serving. Miss Blackmon entered her plea in Jasper Superior Court Tuesday when Judge Hugh V. Wingfield, III, of Milledgeville was presiding.

One other individual has already been convicted and is serving time for this crime, and two others are awaiting trial.

Also, Steven Jay Champion pled guilty to three counts of child molestation and was sentenced to 20 years, with eight years to serve with the remainder on probation, and fines and fees of $1,337.

Tony Andrews pled guilty to three counts of theft by deception and was sentenced to 10 years to be served on probation, fines and fees of $1,337 and restitution of $10,140.

William D. Standifer, who was on probation for the charge of sex offender, was found to have violated his probation for failure to attend sex offender classes, failure to submit breath, urine, blood or saliva tests, failure to keep curfew and failure to report to probation officer. Mr. Standifer was sentenced to serve 270 days in the Jasper County Jail with credit for time served, and upon being released return to regular probation.

Walter Fendley pled guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and driving under the influence less safe. Specifics of his sentence were not available at press time.

In addition, the Jasper County Magistrate Court convened on October 26 with Judge Kenneth G. Jackson, presiding, and the following cases were processed:

• Christopher Lance Fowler, who was on probation for disorderly conduct, had his probation revoked and was sentenced to 60 days in jail and 23 days of community service.

• Olin Buddy Bradshaw, who was on probation for disorderly conduct, had his probation revoked and was sentenced to 60 days in jail and 17 days of community service.

• Quaniesha Zhnae Sands, who was on probation for disorderly conduct, had his probation revoked and was sentenced to 60 days in jail and eight days of community service.

• Intizar Jazza failed to appear to answer the charges of disorderly conduct and obstruction of an officer, and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.

• James Barry McDonald was found innocent of the charge of disorderly conduct and the charge was dismissed.
