Mary Frances Myrick Sanders

Mary Frances Myrick Sanders, 81, died October 16, 2012.

Ms. Sanders was born July 17, 1931 to the late Johnnie Myrick and Mrs. Lillie Mae Slack Broughton.

She was raised in Jasper County near Farrar and attended the public schools there. She joined Shiloh Baptist Church at the age of 12. She later joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church where she was a faithful member.

She was married to the late Willie Walker (Bay) Sanders, Jr., and the two of them bore seven children.

Ms. Sanders was hard working, loving, kind, and helpful to all she could help.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Ann Sanders; grandson, Brandon V. Dennis and two brothers, Robert Tompkins and Charles Isaac.

Survivors include six sons, Willie Walker Sanders, III of Eatonton, Johnny Edward Sanders of Lithonia, Eugene Lattimore and Douglas O’Neil Sanders, both of Atlanta, Derrell Conway Sanders of Covington, Preston Bernard Sanders of Decatur; two daughters, Lou Ruby Sanders Griggs Allen of Lithonia, and Janice Hyman of Shady Dale; sister, Doris Myrick Gervasi; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; a cherished friend, Elton Maddox of Covington, and a host of other relatives and friends,

A service was held Sunday, October 21 at 1st Seventh Day Adventist Church in Covington. Pastor David M. Hones and Dr. Vanard J. Mendinghall officiated.

Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Monticello was in charge of arrangements.
