‘Cane Offense Struggles; Face Crawford Friday

DEATRIUS STONE (11) CARRIES BALL FOR THE 'CANES; JUSTIN PARKS (8) BLOCKS

Once again the ‘Canes offense couldn’t seem to get on track last Friday when they recorded their fourth straight loss, 56-13, to undefeated Lamar County.

The Trojans left town with a 5-0-1 record and are currently ranked by the Atlanta Journal/Constitution as the number seven team in the state in the AA classification.

The ‘Canes have only averaged scoring 10 points per game six games into the season.

But there is a bright spot on the horizon. Tomorrow night, Oct. 19, the team travels to Roberta to take on the Crawford County Eagles.

The Eagles have only put up 34 points all year, an average of six points per game, and have had 207 points scored against them.

They are currently in last place in Region 4-AA with an overall record of 0-6 and a region record of 0-3, while the ‘Canes are resting in next-to-last place with a 1-5 record overall and 0-3 in the region. Essentially, tomorrow night’s game will be a battle to stay out of last place in the region.

In order to pick up a win, Head Football Coach Eddie Roberts said, “We need to get back to the basics of blocking and tackling.

I told the kids that I’m not concerned about who we are playing, but rather about us. In order to win we have to get better at the basics, and all the things we do.”
