Rolls of Lottery Tickets Are Stolen

A-1 Foods, the convenience store located on Forsyth Street at Church St., recently reported a burglary in which several rolls of Georgia Lottery scratch-off tickets were stolen.

According to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) the burglar(s) made off with four rolls of $20 tickets, two rolls of $10 tickets and six rolls of $5 tickets.

According to the Georgia Lottery District Office in Macon, stolen lotto tickets with winning combinations are not redeemable. They gave no details, but emphasized that the technology exists to render stolen lotto tickets to be instantaneously void, and to be worthless.

Apparently, someone broke into the store about 4:30 a.m. on September 26. The alarm company alerted the 911 center, which dispatched law enforcement. The deputy who arrived found the front glass broken. The investigation was turned over to Roberta Anderson with the Monticello Police Department.
