Annie Ruth Norwood

Annie Ruth “Ma” Norwood, 90, of Shady Dale died September 25, 2012 at The Retreat.

Ms. Norwood was born July 1, 1922 to the late Henry and Daisy Norwood. She grew up in Shady Dale and was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church and attended Jasper County public school.

Ms. Norwood was known by many in the community; she was able to make many friends by her outstanding personality. She always kept a smile on her face and enjoyed spending time with family. She also enjoyed gardening and fishing.

Ms. Norwood was preceded in death by a brother, Willie Frank Norwood, Sr.

Survivors include two sons, Willie James Norwood and Jeffery Norwood; four daughters, Shirley Jackson, Linda Whitlock, Sonia Norwood, and Audrey Norwood; and God-daughter, Pearl Bray, all of Monticello.

Also, 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; three special and devoted friends, Mittie A. Young, Roberta Brown and Lottie Norris, all of Monticello; four nephews, one niece and a host of other relatives and friends.

A service was held Saturday, Sept. 29 at Greenwood Baptist Church in Shady Dale. Rev. Frank Norwood, officiated.

Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Monticello was in charge of arrangements.
