Weapons and Drugs Are Stolen

Several weapons and drugs were reported stolen from a residence on Concord Road in Shady Dale last Thursday, Sept. 20.

According to information received from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) the back door of the residence had been kicked in and missing were a .22 pump rifle youth model, a Mossberg .20 gauge pump shotgun, a Marlin .22 semi automatic rifle, a Martin compound bow with three arrows and a supply of .20 gauge shotgun shells.

Also taken was a prescription bottle containing approximately 75 oxycodone pills.

Two other criminal incidents were also reported by the JCSO during the period of Sept 20-25, as follows:

•On September 25 a 1987 Chrysler Fifth Avenue and a Dodge Dart (year of make undetermined) were reported stolen from an address on Stroz Drive in Monticello.

•On September 22 a resident on King Fisher Court in Turtle Cove reported the theft of two motorcycle ramps, gasoline and a portable fire pit from the yard and a storage shed.

Also, during the period of September 18-25 the JCSO reported the following arrests:

•Shelby Lee Waits, 20, Monticello—duty of driver to stop or return to scene of an accident.

•Michael Perkins Watson, 49, Covington—probation violation.

•Amber Symone Brown, 23, Monticello—criminal trespass.

•Mario Matthew Gordon, 18, Monticello—hold for warrant in Newton County.

•Timothy Dwain Conner, 29, Covington—probation violation.

•Jeffery Michael Powers, 39, Jonesboro—hold for warrant in Lamar County.

•Frank Edwin Hart, 30, Colbert: Probation violation.

During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 129 calls for service including 35 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 16 alarm, 12 subject needs officer, five accident, four each assist motorist and livestock or road.

Also, three each pick up prisoner/subject, welfare check, juvenile complaint, threatening/harassing calls and trespassing, two each burglary, domestic, mechanical breakdown, theft by taking, private property, trouble unknown, checking location and 911 hang up.

Also, one each speeding auto, escort or convoy, fire/brush, chase in progress, wanted/stolen indicated, repossession of vehicle, deliver emergency message, four wheeler, child custody case, discharge firearms, music/noise complaint, vandalism of property, road hazard, abandoned vehicle, VGCSA, license check/roadblock and 911 hang up.

Also during the period mentioned above the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the following arrests:

•Alonzo Devonta Standifer, 22, Monticello—criminal trespass, disorderly conduct, obstruction of an officer and probation violation.

•Walter Mead Carter, 60, Monticello—probation violation.

•Bilal Abdul-Mateen, 25, Covington—loud music and driving while license suspended or revoked.

During this same time period officers with the MPD responded to 52 calls for service including 15 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, six alarm, three each mechanical break down, trouble unknown and music/noise complaint, two each dog disturbance, speeding auto, escort or convoy and theft by taking.

Also, one each accident, intoxicated pedestrian, shortness of breath, counterfeit, entering auto, vandalism of property, trespassing, stroke and persons refuse to leave.

In addition, during this period the Georgia State Patrol reported the following two arrests:

•Patrick Brian Echols, 26, Rutledge—possession, manufacture, distribution of a controlled substance, drugs not in original container and no license.

•Kelsey Christopher Underwood, 29, Social Circle—carrying a concealed weapon, operation of a vehicle without current plate, removing or affixing license plate with intent to conceal, and driving while license suspended or revoked.
