Laura Elizabeth “Beth” Nichols Wild

Laura Elizabeth “Beth” Nichols Wild, 96, of Jasper County, died last Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012 in Rossville, where she lived for the past three years with her daughter, Sandra Wild.

Mrs. Wild was born December 21, 1915, to the late Fred and Ella Daniels Nichols in Helen. The family later moved to Lawrenceville, where she grew up with her older sisters.

After her marriage to James B. Wild in 1936, they moved to Franklin, N.C., and later to Jasper County in 1943.

Mrs. Wild’s interests and hobbies were many and varied. They included sewing, gardening, hand crafts such as embroidery, knitting, copper crafts, scherenschnitte, macramé, wood burning, fiber weaving, and many more.

She had been active in the Embroiderer’s Guild, the Home Demonstration Club, the Eudora Woman’s Club, and the Monticello Garden Club. And until recent years Mrs. Wild was an active member of the Monticello Presbyterian Church.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Wild in 1987; son, Robert Gerald “Jerry” Wild in 2001; and sisters, Cora Nichols Greene and Kate Nichols Anderson.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Wild of Rossville, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Mildred Wild of Monticello, and Pauline and Harris Sanders of Greenville, S.C.

Funeral services were held September 23, 2012, at the chapel of Jordan Funeral Home, with interment in West View Cemetery. Rev. Mike Willard officiated.

Pallbearers were Tony Wild, Robert Lewis, Kenneth Mason, Leslie Johnson, Kyle Allen and Jerry Harris.

The family suggests donations in Mrs. Wild’s memory be made to Samaritan’s Purse, Box 3000, Boone, N.C. 28607.
