Lady Canes Play Nine Games in Nine Days

The Lady ’Canes softball team has rapidly moved through the second half of its schedule as they played four games since last Thursday, where they defeated the number seven ranked Crawford County, 7-5 on the road.

They were scheduled to play yesterday, Wednesday, Sept. 12 at the Jasper County Recreation Department in the Deer Capital Classic Tournament.
The ladies will travel to Cochran to face Bleckey County today, Sept. 13 in region competition.
“We are going through a stretch where we have nine games in nine days. With softball season being relatively short, these weeks are tough, but necessary to play the maximum number of regular season games that the GHSA allows,” said Chris Jenkins, head coach.
“This team comes to play every day, so a stretch like this is something they enjoy. We have a huge region game Thursday at Bleckley County, then come back Saturday for the finals of the Deer Capital Classic at the Recreation Department, so we need to finish the week on a strong note.“
“We have two region games remaining, if we win both of those, which we are more than capable of doing, then we will have gone through the region undefeated.
“Doing so will be huge, it puts us in the State Playoffs for the eighth year in a row, allows us to host all of our region tournament games, and puts us in a good position to host the two rounds of the state playoffs.”
