Burglaries Are Reported Across County

A burglary took place on August 30 at Feldspar on Feldspar Road in south Jasper County, during which the front door of the office was forced open and a faded green and gray safe was stolen, according to information received from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO).

The safe contained petty cash. Feldspar is a branch of The Feldspar Corporation which conducts a mining business dealing in sand and gravel.

Also, during the period of August 28 to September 1 the JCSO reported the following additional criminal activity:

•On September 1 the Lakeview Marina on Jackson Lake Road reported the theft of a faceplate from a stereo in a boat.

•On August 29 a resident on Wyatt Road in Shady Dale reported the theft of tires with rims and wooden doors.

•On August 29 employees of Larry’s 4-Way on Hwy. 212 at Jackson Lake Road reported multiple entries and the theft of various store inventory including sporting goods.

•On August 28 a resident on Allen Road in East Jasper County reported the theft of a Taurus Pistol with a black nylon holster. The gun was taken from his vehicle.

In addition, during the period of August 28 through September 4 the JCSO reported the following arrests:

•Dustin John Glasgow, 18, Mansfield—probation violation.

•Daniel Ray Ogles, 26, Manafield—discharge of a firearm while intoxicated.

•Matthew Frank Lawson, 17, Covington—possession of alcohol by a person under 21.

•Daniel Keith Whitlow, 17, Covington—possession of alcohol by a person under 21.

•Jonathan Andrew Hix, Jr., 29, Monticello—theft by receiving stolen property.

•Jessie James Griggs, 65, Shady Dale—probation violation.

•Jeffery Alan Custer, 30, Cumming—child support.

During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 137 calls for service including 38 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, nine subject needs officer, seven theft by taking six accident, five each alarm, burglary and trouble unknown, four each escort or convoy, mechanical break down and abandoned vehicle.

Also, three each assist motorist, live stock on road, pick up prisoner/subject, deliver emergency message, welfare check, juvenile complaint, music/noise complaint, vandalism of property and argument, two each speeding auto, four wheeler, discharge firearms, road hazard and 911 hang up, one each domestic, intoxicated driver, intoxicated pedestrian, direct traffic, headache, miscellaneous ems, assault, property found, checking location, trespassing, utility department needed fraud/theft by deceiving, illegal dumping/littering and persons refuse to leave.

Also during this period the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the following arrests:

•Vashon Leon Traylor, 23, Monticello—probation violation.

•Jeffery Delano Gilbert, 32, Griffin—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

During this same period officers with the MPD responded to 61 calls for service including 22 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, four escort or convoy, three road hazard, two each alarm, speeding auto, shortness of breath, trouble unknown, music/noise complaint and sick, one each burglary, assist motorist, courtesy ride, intoxicated driver, direct traffic, wanted stolen/indicted, bleeding, chest pain, headache, discharge firearms, shoplifter, argument, persons refuse to leave, utility department needed, vgcsa and 911 hang up.

Furthermore, during the period mentioned above the Georgia State Patrol reported the arrest of Patrick D. Dennis, 38, of Monticello, and charged him with failure to maintain lane and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
