Trent Brown Is Named Superior Court Judge

Gov. Nathan Deal has appointed Enis Trenton “Trent” Brown, III, of Eatonton to the vacant Superior Court judgeship in the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit.
Mr. Brown was previously appointed in 2008 by former Gov. Sonny Perdue to serve as judge of the State Court of Putnam County, a part-time position, and was recently re-elected to another four-year term without opposition. Mr. Brown has practiced law throughout the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit since 1999.
The superior court appointment becomes effective upon swearing-in by the Governor, which will be scheduled in the coming weeks at the state capitol in Atlanta according to the Governor’s office. Mr. Brown will fill the vacancy of John Lee Parrott, who resigned in May.

Mr. Brown’s replacement for Putnam County State Court Judge will be appointed by the Governor.
Mr. Brown received word of the appointment by a telephone call last week from Gov. Nathan Deal.
“To have been selected by Governor Deal for this appointment from 17 initial applicants across our eight county judicial circuit is a great honor,” Mr. Brown said. “I am well aware of the solemn responsibility now placed upon me to help safeguard the integrity of our vast superior court system and pledge that I will do so every day with fairness, professionalism, a strong work ethic, integrity, and consistency.
“I pledge to all citizens of Greene, Morgan, Putnam, Baldwin, Jones, Jasper, Hancock and Wilkinson counties to spend every day working hard to do my part to ensure the public’s trust in our superior court system, and to do my part to help with the expansion of accountability courts for non-violent offenders throughout our judicial circuit.”
Mr. Brown is a 1999 graduate of Mercer University School of Law and earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Georgia. He is married to Jill, a school teacher at Lake Oconee Academy, and they have two children.
