Football Contest Begins in Today’s Newspaper
It’s that time of year! Although Piedmont Academy began its 2012 season last week, the football season doesn’t get going in earnest until this week, and with it comes The Monticello News football contest.
Fifteen sponsors support this year’s contest where entrants guess the winners of 15 games listed. In addition, contestants must select the number of total points they think will be scored in the tiebreaker game.
This week’s contest features four high school games, nine college contests, and two professional exhibition games. The pros regular season does not get underway for another week. Future contests will have more than two pro games listed.

Anyone can play. It’s a combination of luck and skill. Whoever has the most correct picks will win a $25 prize from that week’s sponsor and have his or her photo receiving the prize featured in the following week’s Monticello News.
And anyone who correctly guesses the winner in 12 or more contests has his or her name added to the Grand Prize honor roll and qualifies for a prize package to the Chick-Fil-A Bowl.
So, turn to page 14 for this week’s contest, read the rules if you’re unfamiliar, and get busy. Remember, entries must reach The Monticello News office no later than 5 p.m. Friday. They may be brought in personally to 237 West Washington St., Monticello, or faxed to 706-468-6576.
Any questions? Call 706-468-6511 for more information. And get going…first week bragging rights could be yours!
