Jo Ann Rogers Griggs
Jo Ann Rogers Griggs was born on February 12, 1960 to the late Joe Rogers and Betty Jane Jefferies in Monticello. She died August 17 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Miss Rogers married Johnny Lee Griggs, Sr. Into this union two children, Quincy and Quinanaz, were born. Mrs. Griggs was a devoted wife and loving mother to many. She worked many years at Haband in Eatonton, with Attorney Victoria Little in Decatur and the United States Postal Service in Mansfield.
Mrs. Griggs attended Jasper County Training School in Monticello and continued her education to receive her GED from Cornerstone Christian Correspondence School.
She was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church at a young age where she served on the Usher Board and sang in the youth choir. She was also a member of the Shiloh Burial Society. She continued to serve and worship the Lord at Life Changing Deliverance Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Mary Jefferies founded in 1999.
Mrs. Griggs was a very dedicated and devoted participant until death. Her hobbies were cooking, baking and pickling, which was a trait she learned from her mother-in-law the late Mrs. Cornelia Griggs. Feeding the neighborhood and Sunday dinners was a tradition at her home.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 23, at Shiloh Baptist Church, 222 Martin Lane, Shady Dale. Rev. Carvin Lewis Bryant, Pastor. Pastor Mary A. Jefferies officiated, with interment in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, Shady Dale.
Survivors include her husband, mother, children, a brother, Kenneth Jefferies, and a sister, Sharon Jefferies, both of Shady Dale, and step brothers and sisters, along with a host of brothers and sisters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and others.
