Lucile Joyce Bebee Davis
Lucile Joyce Bebee Davis, 77, of Monticello, died August 5, 2012.
Mrs. Davis was born April 27, 1935 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Warren Bebee.
Early in her life she met and married Joe K. Davis, Sr. The two were married 58 years.
As a young child, Mrs. Davis joined Springfield Baptist Church where she was a faithful and dedicated member until her health failed in early 2012.
In her young adult years, she was employed with Georgia-Pacific and later Jasper Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed fishing with her husband and spending time with her many grand and great- grandchildren. She was also a member of the 3W Club and Cemetery Club.
In addition to her parents, Ben Barker, her step-father and Mamie Lou Lawrence, sister, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Joe K. Davis of Monticello; three children, Janice Davis, Warrdean Davis, and Joe K. Davis, Jr.; nine grandchildren, Antonio Dumas, Sheretha Dumas, Jonquavis Dumas, Larry Dumas, Roderick Dumas, Derrick Dumas, Quentin Manning, Shekenia Thurmond, and J’Quavious Thurmond.
Also, 15 great-grandchildren, a special devoted son, William Mack Kelly; sister, Gwendolyn Catchings of Monticello; cousins, Mrs. Ida Lee Whidby and Barbara Louis James; and two devoted sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ollie Robinson and Mrs. Annette Tripp; along with a host of family, friends, and in-laws.
A service was held August 11 at Springfield Baptist Church in Monticello. Rev. Jimmy Horton officiated. Interment was held at Southview Cemetery.
Smith and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
