Diamond Cougars Finish Season
Piedmont Academy’s summer baseball team concluded its season last week as eyes look toward the 2013 season.
“We will have 11 players returning and will also pick up some new ones,” coach Danny Camp said. “We have some new students who are also interested in playing. I hope the players will continue to work hard and continue to get better.”
The Cougars dropped one-run games to Brentwood (7-6) and John Milledge Academy (4-3) last week.
“In both games, we gave up a few early runs but we kept battling,” Camp said. “I was very pleased with how we settled down. All-in-all, the summer was a good experience for us. Hopefully, we will be a better team for it next season.”
The Piedmont coach said he sees plenty of potential for the program.
“This is a group who can do big things in baseball, provided we work hard,” Camp said. “Success doesn’t come easy. You have to be committed. Working in the weight room will be the key for us because we have to get faster and stronger.”
The Cougars once again advanced to the state playoffs this past spring season.
