S. Simpson Seeks Seat in Redrawn 10th District

Stephen Simpson qualified to run in the Republican Primary for the new 10th Congressional District in Georgia.
Mr. Simpson is a native of Milledgeville, a 20-year Army officer and a small business owner who has been actively engaged in his church and community following his Army retirement.
“I qualified today to help bring results to the 10th Congressional District not just rhetoric. Our country needs more women and men in Congress that genuinely care more about their country and the people they represent than they do themselves or just getting reelected,” said Mr. Simpson.
“I know the importance of public service and that inaction is not a suitable result for those who choose to serve our country. I am committed to the conservative principles that will get our nation back on the right track and bring the economic recovery that Georgia desperately needs.

“As I have traveled across the new 10th Congressional district I know firsthand the problems facing the citizens in every county and they all come back to the economy,” said Mr. Simpson. “Whether it’s the recent college grads from the University of Georgia and GCSU or it’s the farmer working to bring in a harvest, the economy is front and center on everyone’s mind.
“While families across the 10th for the past four years have had to make the tough decisions of how to balance the family budget in the worst recession since the Great Depression, Washington has been either at a standstill or creating road blocks to recovery. I pledge to work to get things done for the people of the 10th Congressional district.”
Mr. Simpson and his wife, the former Susan Rogers of Statesboro (University of Georgia EdD), have been married for 39 years. While retaining their Milledgeville home, Mr. Simpson’s military service took him and his family from Virginia to Arizona and two tours in Europe. Mr. and Mrs. Simpson have two sons, Stephen, Jr. and Scott.
Stephen, Jr. and his wife, the former Hibernia Langley, work for GEICO in Washington, DC., and Scott is currently deployed in Afghanistan where he serves as an Arabic linguist for the U.S. Military. Scott’s wife Katie and their daughter Jillian live in Bellevue, Washington.
