W.L. “Lee” Simmons Seeks District 4 Commission Seat

LEE SIMMONS

W.L. “Lee” Simmons qualified last week as a candidate for the District 4 Commissioner seat.

“Most people of Jasper County know me as Lee Simmons or as W.L. Simmons. I’ve been called ‘Santa’ on many occasions. My wife, Lisa (a lifelong resident of Jasper Co.) and I have raised two girls,

Heather and Ashley, in this community.

“My wife and both daughters are graduates of Jasper County High School. My wife is currently a teacher at the high school. And for me I have been a full time resident of Jasper County for the past 10 years. I also have three grown children from a first marriage, 10 grand kids, and three great-grand kids,” said Mr. Simmons.

“I am a retired Army disabled veteran with over 20+ years of service. I am also retired from the Local Union 669 Fire Sprinkler Fitter. I have also worked as an over the road and local truck driver for many years.

“While a resident of Butts County I helped organize and raise funds to build the Worthville Community Volunteer Fire Station. This fire station was later turned over to Butts County with no expense to the county.

“My wife and I owned a dump trucking business for six years. I am currently the President of Lodge 1240 Woodmen of the World and past president for the past three years. Currently, I oversee my wife’s cattle business, Double L Red Angus Farm. We are recent members of the Georgia Cattlemen’s Association,” he went on to say.

“I want to see Jasper County progress and not regress. In the past four years there have been many arguments and disagreements throughout the Commissioners of Jasper County. I want to help bring unity to the commissioners and be a TEAM player, (Together Everyone Achieves More).

“I will not make any promise that I cannot keep but I am willing to be a team player and vote on things that will improve Jasper County, not hurt it,” he said.

“I would like for you to vote for me, Lee Simmons for Jasper County Commissioner of District 4.”
