Monticello High School Graduates 116 Students

JASPER COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 2012

A large crowd attended graduation exercises at Rose Bowl Field Saturday night, and 116 students received their diplomas.

Steven Bradley, the top student in the class, gave the valedictory address. Mr. Bradley was also the recipient of the Band Boosters and Hurricane Booster clubs scholarship awards. Both those booster clubs partner with the academic booster club to present the scholarship.

Ami Labriola, the student with the second highest average in the class gave the salutatory address. Miss Labriola is the recipient of a Baptist Heritage Grant, John Demette Standifer Scholarship and Mercer University Merit Scholarship.

Other students who were recognized both as being honor graduates and Beta Club graduates like the valedictorian and salutatorian include Katherine Laura Andrews, Luke Allen Bales, Brandon Kade Barger, Brittany Nicole Benedict, Juvenal Bermudez, Amanda Rochelle Cameron, Kalee Alyce Carr, Matthew Christopher Chupp, Erica Jill Cline, Heather Danielle DeBoer, Taylor Marcus Fields, Katie Lynn Gardner, Brittany Anne Jones, Paul Hunt Kelly, Jr., James Brady McMichael, Kirsten Morgan Mote-Patterson, Walter Hyman Rabon, III, Tony Robert Seawright, Jr., Quintavius Jaron Stokes, Alvarez LaGuardia Thomas, Jr., and Alexis Mashae Williams.

Of those graduates, the oneswho had scholarships announced in the graduation program included Katie Gardner who received an art scholarship; Brandon Barger who received a Brewton Parker College Presidential and Wrestling scholarship; Heather DeBoer who received the FFA Alumni scholarship and a Lancaster Trust Scholarship; Brittany Benedict who received the Georgia Southern Honors and LEAD scholarships as well as the Outstanding Member FBLA Scholarship.

Also, Taylor Fields who received a Mercer University academic scholarship; Luke Bales and Erica Cline, Lancaster Trust Scholarship; Alvarez Thomas, Reinhardt University Academic and Athletic Scholarship, and Quintavius Stokes received the Georgia Association of Housing & Redevelopment Authorities scholarship.

Also, Sharika Pennamon who received a West Georgia Tech

Scholarship; Tony Seawright who received a Jackson Lake Homeowners Association (JLHA) scholarship; Brady McMichael, John Demette Standifer scholarship, Lancaster Trust scholarship, Nancy Jones scholarship, and Toccoa Falls College academic scholarship, and Juvenal Bermudez who received a scholarship from the Hispanic Scholarship Fund.

Other scholarship recipients included Joshua Cedric Stone, Atlanta Metro College Athletic Scholarship; Joshua Lee McMichael, JLHA scholarship and Lancaster Trust scholarship; Johnathan Coke Bell and Quintara Cyn’tia Standifer, Lancaster Trust Scholarship, and Carlie Allison Evans, Point University Merit Scholarship.

Hannah Grace Cheely, and Brittany Lee Shumway were also honor graduates. Jimmy Daniel Cheek, Kristopher Ray Eddleman and Mercedeze Lajoie Williams were Beta Club graduates.

Several of the above students were National Technical Honor Society graduates, class officers or class representatives as well as the other honors listed.

Jasper County School Superintendent Dr. Mike Newton presented the diplomas to the students after Principal Howard Fore presented the class.

Kristin Westbrook, senior class president, was the first to speak at the ceremony, welcoming everyone there. At the end of the ceremony she led the turning of the tassel.

Alexis Williams, senior class vice president of graduation gave the invocation. Quintara Standifer made special presentations. Morgan Mote-Patterson, Senior Class Vice President of Awards gave the benediction.

Torchbearers for graduation were Olivia Aldridge and Amanda Kelly. Ushers were Brenda Bautista, Gabriela Bautista, Victor Bautista, Ellie Bowden, Chelsea Kamplain, Katalin Laszloova, Yeny Padron, Allison Scroggs, Emily Sorrow, Shekenia Thurmond, Jemiyah Warren, and Ke’ausha Warren.

Graduation advisors were Amy Scroggs, Michael Cooper, Howard Fore and Chris Savage.
