Thieves Steal from Hunting Camp Here

Last Friday, May 18, a property owner reported the theft of several vehicles and other equipment from a hunting camp on North Cook Road, according to information received from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO).

The items reported stolen included a Yanmar 1900 tractor, a Kawasaki 310 Mule, a 1993 Coachman Catalina Camper and a bush hog.

Other criminal activity reported by the JCSO during the period of May 15-21 includes the following:

•On May 21 a resident on Herring Gull Ct. reported a burglary in which a brown dining room table was stolen.

•On May 20 a resident on County Line Road in Mansfield reported a burglary in which an RV was vandalized and a TV was stolen.

•On May 17 a resident on Ernest Gibson Road reported the theft by taking of a homemade trailer.

•On May 17 the Turtle Cove Golf Shop reported 35 gallons of gas had been stolen from the maintenance shop.

•On May 15 a resident on Hwy. 212 reported a burglary in which a security box, assorted pre-64 silver coins, a silver butter knife, a white piggy bank with assorted coins, a safe and assorted women’s jewelry had been stolen.

Also, during the period of May 15-22 the JCSO reported the following arrests:

•Kameicy Lashia Waller, 29, Monticello—hold for a warrant in Newton County.

•Johnny Chris Vallrath, 37, Monticello—hold for a warrant in Alabama.

•Andre Malaka Bostic, 37, Monticello—parole violation.

•Ryan Darrell Young, 23, Covington—possession of marijuana less than one ounce.

•Kenneth Anthony Thurman, 49, Monticello—probation violation.

•Vincent Kyle Dudley, 20, Newborn—probation violation.

•Christina Marie Kelly, 39, Monticello—simple battery.

During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 112 calls for service including 16 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 14 subject needs officer, 10 alarm, six music/noise complaint, five each domestic and theft by taking, four each burglary, speeding auto and threatening/harassing calls, and three each vandalism of property and attempt to serve warrant.

Also, two each prowler report, accident, livestock on road, mechanical break- down, pick up prisoner/subject, wanted/stolen indicated, juvenile complaint, road hazard, argument and transport of patient, one each fight, courtesy ride, escort or convoy, mental person, overdose, child abuse/molestation, assault, child custody case, trouble unknown, property found, persons refuse to leave, vgcsa, fraud/theft by deceiving, identity fraud/theft, seizure and 911 hand up.

Also during the period mentioned above the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the following arrests:

•Jessie Christian, 54, Eatonton—giving false name or address to law enforcement officer.

•Marvis Armel Wyman, 31, Monticello—probation violation.

•Melisa Michelle Lisvey, 29, Monticello—probation violation, possession of cocaine and possession or use of drug related objects.

•Ruben Broxton Hardwick, 56, Monticello—public indecency.

•Ryan Jerrell Norwood, 22, Monticello—obstruction or hindering law enforcement officer, possession of marijuana less than one ounce, driving unsafe or improperly equipped vehicle and signal violation.

During this same period officers with the MPD responded to 64 calls for service including 29 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, seven alarm, four each escort or convoy, subject needs officer and trouble unknown, three sick, two each speeding auto and attempt to serve warrant, one each prowler report, courtesy ride, fire/brush, assault, juvenile complaint, music/noise complaint and extra patrol.

The non-emergency number for the 911 center is 706-468-4930 which should be called to give cell phone information for weather and other danger alerts, report power outages in the city of Monticello, or other messages that are not urgent in nature.
