Elisha Poteet of Oxford, driving a Ford Crown Victoria side swiped Shirley Norton of Covington after a tire blew Tuesday morning on Hwy. 212 near the Newton County line.

Ms. Poteet was unable to avoid impact and hit Ms. Norton’s Saturn on the left front side, according to a report from the Georgia State Patrol. Both cars traveled a number of feet, according to the report, with the Crown Victoria traveling over an embankment into a fence through a pasture and hitting a second fence, to stop in a pasture.

The Saturn traveled off of the road and came to rest on the shoulder after receiving extensive damage. Ms. Poteet was cited for an improper tire requirement. One person was transported by ambulance.
