Thieves Escape Dog, Drop PWC
Last Saturday afternoon, Jasper County deputies responded to a report of a theft in progress of a personal watercraft on Blue Heron Drive in Rollingwood Cove subdivision on the lake, according to information received from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO).
It was speculated that the thieves discovered they had been observed and they proceeded to dump the personal watercraft near the Hwy. 212 bridge and make their escape into the woods. Tracking dogs were brought in they tracked them back into Rollingwood Cove, but then lost their scent.
Other criminal activity reported by the JCSO for the period of April 10-25 includes the following:

•On April 25 a property owner on Miss Sarah Drive in west Jasper County reported the theft of the batteries and fuel from their boat.
•On April 23 a resident on Bragg Road in east Jasper County reported the theft of three old iron tractor wheels from their driveway.
•On April 10 a homeowner on Eagle Drive in Turtle Cove reported the theft of an air conditioning unit.
•On April 2 Harvey’s Dairy Farm on Hwy. 212 reported vandalism and the theft of a Ford Truck, a chain saw and a weed eater.

Also, during the period of April 17 to May 1, the JCSO reported the following arrests:
•Merari Tripp, 53, Monticello—battery and cruelty to children in the third degree.
•Cherie Branchetta Tripp, 33, Monticello—battery and cruelty to children in the third degree.
•Deborah Jean Bell, 34, Covington—possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, driving while license suspended or revoked and giving false information.
•Christopher Lance Fowler, Jr., 22, Monticello—probation violation, driving with no license, no proof of insurance and suspended registration.
•Joseph John Laudicina, 59, Monticello—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
•Charlton Raymeirus Whitlock, 27, Jackson—probation violation.
•Jimie Eric Dorrough, 24, Griffin—probation violation.
•Antonio Ashton Juhan, 20, Monticello—probation violation.
•Marvin Armel Wyman, 31, Monticello—probation violation.
•Jeremyh Shane Kidd, 34, Covington—probation violation.
•Richard Louis Rodriguez, 31, Shady Dale—aggravated assault, simple battery (two counts) and cruelty to children.
•Audrey Denise Norwood, 44, Monticello—disorderly conduct.
•William Lamar Cagle, 33, Conyers—probation violation.
During the period of April 24 to May 1 deputies with the JCSO responded to 129 calls for service including 24 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 14 alarm, 11 accidents, nine subject needs officer, five each assist motorist, domestic, and mechanical breakdown, four each theft by taking, pick up prisoner/subject, and trouble unknown, three each livestock on road, threatening/harassing calls, vandalism of property, checking location and abandoned vehicle.
Also, two each speeding auto, discharge firearms, music/noise complaint and road hazard, one each dog disturbance, prowler report, intoxicated driver, fire/brush, fire/other, fire/structure, mental person, wanted/stolen, fall, misc ems, overdose, welfare check counterfeit, juvenile complaint, possible suicide, private property, vgcsa, license check/road block, attempt to serve warrant, fight and fraud/theft by deceiving.
In addition, during the period of April 17 and May 1, the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the following arrests:
•Marcus Keith Lett, 29, Monticello—driving while license suspended or revoked.
•Antonio Standifer, 49, Monticello—battery and obstruction or hindering enforcement officer.
•Kenny Leon Strickland, Jr., Monticello—criminal trespass, battery and obstruction or hindering law enforcement officer.
•Lori Christine Straka, 49, Monticello—public drunkenness, obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers and probation violation.
•Randy Cargile, 48, Monticello—under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
During the period of April 24 and May 1 officers with the MPD responded to 59 calls for service including 20 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, seven subject needs officer, six escort or convoy, three each alarm, trouble unknown and music/noise complaint, two each fight, juvenile complaint and persons refuse to leave, one each domestic, assist motorist, mechanical break down, fire/structure, fire/vehicle, fracture, rape, missing person, threatening/harassing calls, abandoned vehicle and drinking in public.
Also during this period the Georgia State Patrol reported the arrest of Jason Fidell Hurt, 37, of Eatonton, and charged him with possession of marijuana less than one ounce and seat belt violation.
