Piedmont Golf Ends Season

The Piedmont Academy golf team saw its 2012 season come to a conclusion at the Region 1-AA tournament last week.

Coach Wes Tanner said the Cougar golfers had “an off day” and were not able to qualify for state. Drew Collins was the low medalist for Piedmont with an 18-hole score of 84 followed by Branson Parish at 89.

“It was a couple of holes that really cost us a spot at qualifying and that is unfortunate,” Tanner said. “We did have our chances as several teams did not perform well.”

The region golf tournament was played at Jennings Mill Country Club in Bogart.
